Amanda joined Mitchell-Handschuh Law Group in 2021 as an associate attorney where she represents clients in the transportation and logistics industry in matters involving cargo claims litigation, contracts, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.

Prior to joining Mitchell-Handschuh Law Group, Amanda worked for a large distribution company. She began her career as a freight broker and advanced through several different transportation-related positions across the company. As a transportation supervisor, Amanda managed a team of CDL drivers, loaded trucks, and oversaw the day-to-day management of the delivery routes and CMV fleet. She later obtained her certification as a Cargo Claims Professional (CCP) and managed cargo claims for the 3PL division, handling over 300 claims annually. She then became a Fleet Supervisor where she continued to manage cargo claims and began managing billing and asset tracking for a fleet of over 800 power units and more than 2,000 trailers. Finally, Amanda transferred to the company’s legal department where she managed DOT compliance and the driver substance-abuse testing program, and assisted with writing and reviewing contracts, drafting internal policies and procedures, legal research, and litigation preparation.

Amanda has always enjoyed working in the transportation and logistics industry. As an undergraduate, her degree focused heavily on supply chain management. Before applying to law school, she educated herself by attending several seminars to learn about the law that applies to transportation and cargo claims. She has spent her career working in transportation and logistics and enjoys working with transportation and logistics companies and helping solve the unique challenges that face them.

Amanda has ridden with drivers on their routes, spent hours behind the wheel of a forklift, and has first-hand experience dealing with the challenges of managing and meeting customer expectations. She has worked through mergers and acquisitions, consolidations, layoffs, and organizational restructuring, has vetted contracts, and has acted as an administrator during the deployment of new software. She has been on both sides of a cargo claim and has weathered ever-changing regulations such as FSMA, the FMCSA Clearinghouse, and new COVID protocols. In short, she has been where many of her clients are when they come to Mitchell-Handschuh for help, and she can relate to their struggles and experiences in a way that many lawyers cannot.

Amanda was born in Florida, then spent her early years in Alabama. Today, she lives in the Dunwoody area north of Atlanta with her fiancé, her daughter, and their dog and cat. When she’s not practicing law, Amanda serves as a poll worker in Dekalb County, works as a freelance artist, and enjoys playing the saxophone, crocheting, reading, and baking.
